In Progress: Glen Echo (LS6) Sewer Improvements Project
Project Overview
During this project, we'll replace sections of approximately 60-year-old wastewater main pipes in the Glen Echo area. This project is part of our larger Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) Reduction Program.
I&I is a problem where old, damaged pipes become inundated with excess water during heavy rain. Cracks or other deficiencies allow groundwater to seep into wastewater main pipes, resulting in significantly higher-than-normal flows. The sudden influx can overwhelm the treatment plant systems, potentially resulting in raw sewage overflowing into the river.
The result: Replacing or repairing faulty pipes reduces the need for frequent, costly “Band-Aid fixes” and protects our precious rivers by keeping raw sewage out.

Potential Project Impacts
Traffic Impacts Update 🚗 - January 2026
Due to upcoming construction activities, vehicles parked along SE Mildred Ave between Glen Echo Ave and SE McLoughlin Blvd must be removed during the designated construction period.
“No Parking” signage will be posted on barricades in advance and will indicate the applicable construction dates and times. Please also be aware of road closures. These restrictions are necessary to ensure public safety and allow construction crews to perform their work efficiently.
Vehicles remaining in the posted no-parking zone during construction hours will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense. Property owners, residents, and business owners are responsible for ensuring vehicles are relocated accordingly.
__________________________________________________________________________________
We have carefully planned to minimize disruptions; however, affected areas may experience delays and temporary road or lane closures. During construction, heavy equipment and materials will be in the work area, which will be marked with cones and/or caution tape. There may also be some noise and dust during construction hours.
On-site crews will communicate directly with homeowners about any direct impacts.
If you're experiencing impacts beyond what's typical for construction, please contact us directly.

Private Improvements in Public Right-of-Way
In some locations, crews must work outside the public right-of-way in areas called easements or within undeveloped public right-of-way. Work crews will coordinate with homeowners with easements in or near their property.
